Wicker Park Real Estate

    OVERVIEW

Long considered one of Chicago’s hippest and hottest neighborhoods, Wicker Park truly offers everything a city dweller could want. Public transportation, parks, restaurants, small boutique shops, and easy access to everything in the city, as well as beautiful housing options — you will find all this in Wicker Park.

    CULTURE/NIGHTLIFE

The neighborhood is known for hosting local art stores and independent businesses. Gentrification over the last 20 years has brought more college-educated white-collar workers, which led to some pushback from the displaced artistic community. However, live/work art studios still overlook the busy North/Damen/Milwaukee intersection, and the trendy vibe remains. In 2012, Forbes magazine named Wicker Park the #4 hippest of the hipster neighborhoods in the United States.

    HOUSING

The neighborhood is filled with single-family homes both old and new, and an attractive mix of well-maintained and charming older architecture, side-by-side with modern condo buildings. Both buyers and renters will find opportunity here.

    TRANSPORTATION

Wicker Park is well served by public transportation. The CTA blue line runs through it, offering 24-hour service to O’Hare Airport and the downtown Loop. Several busy bus routes also service the area, including the #56 (Milwaukee) and #72 (North). Bike travel is also popular here, with most of the main streets providing dedicated bike lanes for travel.
