Bucktown Real Estate

Overview:

During the 19th century, Bucktown was home to many Polish immigrants, and was a part of the city’s famed Polish Downtown. The large number of goats that were raised and housed in residents’ yards gave the area its name. Today, Bucktown is one of Chicago’s most desirable neighborhoods, offering a beautiful mixture of older single-family homes, edgy new architecture, and lofts converted from vintage industrial buildings.

Culture/Nightlife:

In the late 20th century, a growing artist’s community led directly to widespread gentrification, and large numbers of young professionals moved into the area. Bucktown is primarily a residential neighborhood, with many gorgeous tree lined streets and beautiful homes both new and old. Single-family homes and converted loft buildings dominate the housing options, and both renters and buyers with find great choices. Prices are on the higher end of the Chicago market, as befits this very sought-after area.

Transportation:

Bucktown is served by the CTA’s blue line, delivering 24-hour service to both O’hare Airport and the downtown Loop. The neighborhood is next to the Kennedy Expressway, so car travel is also easy; many major bus routes run through Bucktown as well, so residents can easily get to any part of the city.
